Monthly Bible Study
Come Discuss The Faith!

We are continuing our study involving militant atheism in the US and around the world.  We are utilizing the popular book - "Answering the New Atheism."  We will continue to meet on the third Friday of each month until June 2009.  The book used in our study is:  Answering the New Atheism by Scott Hahn and Benjamin Wiker.  Our study will end in May/June.  Aquinas and More Catholic Goods (at the corner of Fillmore and Academy Blvd.) has the book on hand and if needed, can order the book for you.

Our format for the study is "Point-Counter Point."  I will role play as Richard Dawkins ("no annoying accent") by using excerpts from his book and I will ask you to explain your position or belief.  You can come prepared by reading the appropriate chapters in
Answering the New Atheism and reading the appropriate section on the Bible Study page on this website.

I will post the proposed argument on a separate and special
Bible Study Page.  This post will outline the major points proposed from Dawkin's book and will be the ones we discuss during the monthly meeting.  By posting this argument ahead of time, you should have time to review the argument, review the appropriate book chapters and then come to the meeting ready to discuss with other faithful Christians.  If you don't like to discuss controversial things openly, no problem.  You will always be among friends.  You are always welcome to come and listen and to bring a friend.

This study is open to anyone.

Your suggestions are certainly welcome:

As a local lay apostolate, the members of the group meet monthly to be formed spiritually and doctrinally.  The St. John the Baptist Chapter of Catholics United for the Faith is committed to support the Bishop of Colorado Springs and participate fully in the "New Evangelization."

Our specific goal is to help build up the Church by helping lay catholics become well formed, both spiritually and doctrinally.  Please take a look at our Chapter History to see the events our group has sponsored and our Event Calendar will show the events we have planned.  You don't have to be a member of the group to attend any event, all are welcome.

The St. John the Baptist CUF Chapter is a subset of the CUF International Headquarters located in Stuebenville, OH.  The Catholics United for the Faith (CUF) website contains our charter.
